CALL FOR PAPERS: SUBMIT YOUR PAPER TO GAMIFICATION GROUP (CO-)CHAIRED TRACKS AT HAWAII INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SYSTEM SCIENCES 2026

Once again, this year you can submit your paper for one of the Gamification Group (co-)chaired minitrack at Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS 2026).
According to Microsoft Academic in 2021, in terms of citations, HICSS has ranked first among information systems as well as business conferences. HICSS is also considered one of the most important conferences in the overall field of systems and systems in different international rankings.
59th Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS) will take place at Hyatt Regency Maui on January 6-9, 2026.

GAMIFICATION GROUP IS (CO-)CHARING 3 MINITRACKS IN THE CONFERENCE:
Gamification minitrack, encouraging a wide range of submissions from any disciplinary backgrounds (e.g., empirical and conceptual research papers, case studies, and reviews) related to gamification, including (but not limited to) users, education, media, commerce, work, technology, toys & playfulness, health, cities, theories, concepts and methods from such as positive, negative, speculative, cultural, historical, ethical perspectives.
Game-based Learning minitrack, encouraging submissions from any disciplinary background reporting different kinds of studies (e.g., empirical studies, case studies, methods and techniques, conceptual frameworks, and literature reviews). Covering related to neighboring concepts such as educational games, serious games, gamified learning, single and multiplayer games for learning, simulation, and training games, gameful design, etc.
Computing Education minitrack, encouraging submissions from any disciplinary background reporting different kinds of studies: e.g., empirical studies, case studies, methods and techniques, conceptual frameworks, and literature reviews. Beyond the title of the minitrack, the minitrack covers research and practice framed as related to neighboring concepts such as: computing educators, instructional designers, teacher, school administrators, policymakers, and other actors involved with Computing Education.
Authors of accepted papers have the option to fast-track extended versions of their HICSS papers either to journals such as: Electronic Markets (papers that approach the topic of the minitrack from the perspective of the digital economy), Internet Research (papers that approach the topic of the minitrack from the perspective of the internet), AIS Transactions on Human-Computer Interaction (papers that approach the topic of the minitrack from the perspective of human-computer interaction), or Smart Learning Environments (papers that approach the topic of the minitrack from the perspective of Education).

October 1, 2025 | 11:59 pm HST: Conference registration deadline for at least one author of each paper
