We are looking for participants for a research study about understanding the relationship between humans and their intelligent home appliance robots. You are eligible if you use multiple (at least 2) home appliance robots (i.e., robot vacuum cleaner, lawn mower robot, smart dishwasher, smart washing machine, robot mopper, kitchen robot, etc.). As a participant, you are expected to join a 1-hour call with a researcher to share your experience with your home appliance robots. The language of the call is English. As compensation for your time, you will receive a gift voucher worth 10€.

Who can participate:

Anyone who owns and uses multiple (at least 2) home appliance robots (i.e., robot vacuum cleaner, lawn mower robot, smart dishwasher, smart washing machine, robot mopper, etc.)!

What it entails:

We are looking for people who own and use intelligent home appliance robots on a daily basis to know about their experiences. We aim to understand the relationship between humans and their intelligent home appliance robots by listening to their experiences, perceptions, expectations, and daily interactions. The participation involves a 1-hour online call to talk about the perceived experience of using intelligent home appliance robots.

The participant will join an online call which will be recorded and transcribed. In addition to that, they will fill out a questionnaire about their usage of intelligent home appliance robots. All personal data collected during the study will be processed in compliance with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the data protection laws of Finland. All data will be anonymized, and codes will be used to refer to specific participants. Also, any identifying information will be removed from the data.

This research will be conducted as part of employment with Tampere University, as a research study by the Gamification Group, run by Professor Juho Hamari. This research is funded by the Academy of Finland Flagship Programme (337653—Forest-Human-Machine Interplay (UNITE).
