PELIT: Playful Engagement and Learning through Interactive Technology

Play for Engagement and Learning through Interactive Technology (PELIT) is a research area exploring how playful interactive technologies can promote learning and engagement for social and environmental good. Topics of interest include games and gamification for sustainability transitions and climate change engagement, game-based learning, and data for good.

We study, create, and evaluate gamification applied to topics such as climate change and sustainability (Daniel Fernández Galeote, Carlos Álvarez Barroso), metacognition for learning (Annique Smith), bias mitigation in financial decision-making (Ans Ahmad), and public understanding of science (Prajwal D’Souza).

The doctoral researchers in this area are supervised by Dr. Daniel Fernández Galeote and Prof. Juho Hamari, and some of them by senior scholars such as Prof. Nannan Xi and Dr. Nikoletta-Zampeta Legaki as well.

For any requests, contact Daniel Fernández Galeote.
