Dr. Marc Riar is an Assistant Professor in Management of Information Systems at IÉSEG School of Management in Paris, and an Associated Researcher at Gamification Group, as well as the Friedrich-Alexander University, and the Lille Economié Management (LEM) research laboratory.
He obtained his PhD from the Technical University of Berlin and was a Visiting Researcher at the Baskin School of Engineering at University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC). His research centers on human-computer interaction (HCI) with an emphasis on user experience and cooperation in digital space, gamification, extended reality (XR), and metaverse. He holds a M.Sc. in Business Informatics from the University of Mannheim and a B.Sc. in Information Systems Management from Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences.
His research has been published in several journals within the IS and HCI domain (e.g., Information Systems Frontiers, Internet Research, International Journal of Information Management, Computers in Human Behavior, Behaviour & Information Technology, etc.), and book outlets (e.g., Routledge, Palgrave Macmillan).
