Bakhtawar Khan is a doctoral researcher at the Gameful Future Labs, Faculty of Information Technology and Communications, Tampere University. She is currently working within the Finnish Flagship UNITE Programme on Forest-Human-Machine Interplay. Her research explores the intersections of humans, technology, and more-than-human ecologies, using XR/VR and related platforms to study how technology-mediated nature experiences can shape well-being and the future of work. She has also investigated technostress in the work-related use of social VR, examining the organizational challenges posed by immersive technologies. Her academic contributions include work on technostress, gamified competence development, and immersive collaboration in the metaverse and advancing research on technology, motivation, and user experience. Beyond academia, she leads international youth workshops and participatory initiatives through roles with the German-Baltic Youth Exchange Network and the Council of the Baltic Sea States. Her practice is guided by a commitment to Slowness and Meaning-Making (deliberate, reflective engagement), Relationality (Interconnections between humans and more-than-human worlds), and Ecological Curiosity (exploring how digital mediation can foster awe, care, and attentiveness toward environments).
