The organizers of the Conference have booked quotas for the Conference delegates from the following hotels. Please note that the accommodation is not included in the participation fee, and you should make the reservations directly in the hotels! When making reservations from these hotels, mention "NordiCHI" in order to get the Conference price for the room.

Conference Venues

Tampere Hall is the largest concert and congress centre in the Nordic countries. It is located beside a lovely park in the very heart of Tampere opposite Tampere University and just a stone's throw from the railway station.
Tutorials, workshops and doctoral consortium are in Pinni B -building of the University of Tampere on Saturday and Sunday.

Getting to Tampere

Tampere is 180 kilometres northwest from Helsinki. It is easy and fast to get to Tampere by air, by bus or by train. There are several daily flights to Finland from the major cities in Europe. There are daily flights from Stockholm and Copenhagen to Tampere. There are also daily flights between Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (HEL) and Tampere-Pirkkala Airport (TMP), the flight time being 30 minutes. From Helsinki-Vantaa airport there is a frequent and comfortable bus connection to the center of Tampere.

Tampere-Pirkkala Airport is located about 15 kilometres from the centre of Tampere. From Tampere-Pirkkala airport the most convenient way to travel to the center and to the hotels, is by taxi. The taxi fare is about 25 €. There is also a bus connection.

Badges

The conference badge, which will be handed at the registration desk, is the entrance ticket to all sessions. Please wear the badge also at social events, coffee breaks and lunches. Only badge holders are admitted to the sessions.

Restaurant

Lunch and coffee is served on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at Tampere-Hall, restaurant Fuuga, 2nd floor. Lunches are free of charge for the conference delegates.

Dress code

Casual dress is suitable for all occasions.

Reading e-mails in Tampere Hall, VIP-room 3rd floor

Workstations are available for mail reading and web brousing in the room VIP, 3rd floor. Also wireless network is available with limited Internet access through firewall.

Smoking

Smoking is not allowed in the University of Tampere or in the Tampere-Hall. Smoking is allowed only outside the buildings.

Parking

There's really limited parking space nearby the University and Tampere Hall. Please leave your car at your hotel or at Tullintori car park near Tampere Hall. University has some guest parking spaces, but they are for short term parking only. The O and H marked parking areas are for Tampere university parking permit holders only and the numbered spaces are reserved also. We advice delegates to use the car park in Tullintori, otherwise there might be a fine in your windshield when you return to your car.
