Laura Pihkala-Posti, 2022: In der virtuellen Welt die reale Welt retten lernen
The article “Learning to save the real world in the virtual world” describes the EU project Excalibur, which runs from 2022 to 2024. In this project, students use game-based learning to create virtual spaces for action and experience in which they develop sustainability solutions in a self-determined and action-oriented way. The idea is based on research into the use of Minecraft in DaF-lessons. The aim is to achieve a greater sense of authenticity and immersion through virtual contacts and target-cultural learning environments and to increase motivation to learn. Multimodality and game-based access play an important role here. Multimodality enables versatile communication and interaction, including kinaesthetic experiences in 3D sandbox worlds. Game-based learning uses games to promote active learning and motivate people to take action.
