Tampere University of Technology

Tampere University of Technology was established in 1965. The first degree granted by the university is either a Master of Science in Technology or Architecture. TUT has also persistently developed its research activities and postgraduate education. In 2008 it had 11 600 students at TUT, 10 000 studying for an undergraduate degree and 1 600 for a postgraduate degree. Tampere University of Technology is located about 10 kilometres from the city centre. 

The Department of Civil Engineering focuses on four research areas:

  • Construction Management and Economics,  
  • Earth and Foundation Structures,
  • Information Technology in Civil Engineering and 
  • Structural Engineering.

Building physics is one of the key subjects of research in Structural Engineering.
