Video Analysis

Principal Investigator: Prof. Joni Kamarainen

Our main interest in video analysis is to extend many of our image analysis methods to video analysis with the help of temporal information in sequence of video frames. Moreover, we investigate also other modalities, such as audio, to find complementary features for the analysis. For combined video and audio analysis, we collaborate with the Audio Group of the Department of Signal Processing (TUT).

Featured projects

In the Camera2DVD project we combine state-of-the-art visual and audio analysis techniques to automatically edit raw home video material (e.g. from DVCams or mobile phones) to entertaining videos. The idea is similar to video summarisation or video skimming where hours of raw video data is "compressed" to a few minutes of more enjoyable but almost equally informative video.
