Tampere, the largest Nordic city without access to the sea - a city of most reserved and introverted 190.000 people of Finland - is located 170 km north of Helsinki, between Lake Pyhäjärvi and Lake Näsijärvi.
Trains from Helsinki to Tampere depart
hourly. In the IC trains the seat reservation is required (marked as *
in the time tables below). Travel time is 2 hours. The railway stations
of Tampere and Helsinki are right in the city centres.

If you arrive at
Helsinki
Airport, then you may take an
Express
Bus from the Airport directly to Tampere. Travel time 2.5 hours, departing
every 1 - 2 hours. Finnair buses to Helsinki city centre (distance 19 km)
leave from the airport every 20 minutes between 5:45-1:10.

When arriving at the Helsinki Airport, please check the timetable and the departure place of the bus. You can pay the ticket to the driver. The price of a single ticket is FIM 97 and a return ticket is FIM 175. Please note that 10 minutes after the Airport there is bus change for everybody in some busses.
When arriving at the Tampere Bus Station, you may take a taxi to your destination (you may check the buses too). The Bus Station is ca. 0.4 km from the Sokos Hotel Ilves and less than 1 km from the Sokos Hotel Villa. The distance between Lapinkaari and Bus Station is about 2.5 km.
Finnair also offers connections between Helsinki and Tampere. The flight time is 30 minutes. Tampere Airport is 15 km southwest of city centre. Bus to city centre (price ca. FIM 16) operates every 1 - 2 hours, and hence you may consider using the Airport Taxi.
