Modelling and prediction of tree stems and bucking in cases of incomplete information

Through the existing data we have been able to show that the linear mixed model for repeated-measurements yields particularly good stem curve predictions. It is one aim of the present rescarch to develop these methods to be suitable for practieal purposes. Here it would be necessary to ascertain the required stem file size and updating strategy, exploitation of possible advance information in estimations and optimal placement of measurements along the stem.
