Bucking into a distribution of stumpage and selection of stands for felling

Bucking into a distribution, in addition to maximation of the value requires that the logs meet the given distribution as to length, diameter and quality class provided. Traditional approaches to this problem are connected either to operation analysis or supervision through modification of value tables. The present research makes use not only of the approaches mentioned above but also of the theory of stochastic processes. The doctoral dissertation by Kimmo Vattulainen (see Enclosure 4) addresses this subject.
