| a | The Department has organized several international conferences: The First
International Tampere Seminar on Linear Statistical Models and their Applications in 1983,
The Second International Tampere Conference in Statistics in 1987, International Workshop
on Linear Models, Experimental Designs and Related Matrix Theory in 1990, Symposium on
Analysis of Longitudinal Data in 1993, An Afternoon Full of Matrices in 1994 and Neural
Networks and Statistics in 1996. These have attracted speakers and participants from many
parts of the world. The proceedings of these conferences are published as appropriate. The Eighth International Workshop on Matrices and Statistics will be held at the University of Tampere on Friday, August 6 and Saturday, August 7, 1999. This Workshop is a Satellite Conference of the 52nd Session of the International Statistical Institute (ISI) to be held in Helsinki from Tuesday, August 10 through Wednesday, August 18, 1999. |
