Overview

We invite researchers, developers, and industry practitioners to contribute posters and demonstrations to our workshop on Standardization and Interoperability in Haptics. This interactive session aims to bridge research, standardization efforts, and real-world deployment by fostering hands-on exchange and discussion across communities.

Topics of Interest

  • Haptic standards, including IEEE 1918.1.1 and MPEG-I Haptics
  • Haptic data formats, coding, and compression
  • Authoring tools, workflows, and content pipelines
  • Communication protocols and real-time streaming of haptics
  • Middleware, APIs, and cross-device interoperability
  • Reference implementations and open-source tools
  • Testbeds, datasets, and benchmarking frameworks
  • Evaluation methodologies and quality metrics
  • Applications in XR/VR, teleoperation, robotics, automotive, accessibility, healthcare, and related areas
  • Industrial case studies, deployment experiences, and ecosystem challenges

Submission Format

We invite 1-page abstracts for both posters and demos. Submissions should include:

  • Title and authors
  • Problem statement and contribution
  • Relevance to haptics standardization and interoperability
  • Key results, system description, or use case

Additional Requirement for Demos

  • A link to a short video, 2–5 minutes, demonstrating the system or prototype
  • Description of any technical setup requirements, such as space, power, or other equipment needs

Selection Criteria

  • Relevance to the workshop theme of standardization and interoperability
  • Technical quality and clarity
  • Novelty and practical impact
  • Potential to stimulate discussion and interaction

Presentation Format

Poster Presenters

  • Poster display during the interactive session
